Grapes are a fruit loved by many people because they are very sweet and easy to eat. This is also a nutritious fruit, good for health. However, grapes grow in clusters, so they often contain a lot of dirt as well as insect eggs in the crevices between the fruits. If you only use water to wash it, it won’t be clean, so many people soak grapes with salt water or flour to “remove” dirt or insect eggs.

However, culinary experts say that by doing so, the grapes are not completely clean and require additional ingredients, so let’s take a look at what those ingredients are.

First, separate the grapes from the bunch for easy washing. Note, do not pick each fruit by hand, but use scissors to cut it. Leave a little stem on each grape. If you directly pick the fruit, it will expose the grape flesh. When washing, dirty water will get inside the grapes. Eating these grapes will easily lead to diarrhea.

Put the grapes in and wash the surface of the grapes with running water, then put the washed grapes in a pot and add an appropriate amount of water to cover the grapes.

Then add a sufficient amount of baking soda and a little flour, stir well with your hands and leave for 5 minutes. Baking soda is a chemical substance that effectively helps remove pesticide residue and helps remove insect eggs stuck to the surface of the fruit. Wheat flour also helps remove dirt from grape skins.

After 5 minutes, take the grapes out and put them in another pot, add the appropriate amount of water and a little starch, stir gently and leave for 2 minutes. Starch particles are very small, have strong absorption ability, can wash away all dirt on the surface of grapes, making grapes cleaner.

Finally, we throw away the water and wash the grapes under running water several times to avoid dirt sticking to the grapes a second time, so that the grapes are washed clean. If you look closely, the washed grape skins are clear and shiny, you can comfortably enjoy them without peeling them.

So when washing grapes, you need to use more baking soda and starch!
